About the Event
Proceeds will benefit NCMC's scholarship program. NCMC is the only nonprofit music school in Hampshire County that offers financial aid: no one is ever turned away for an inability to pay! Join us in celebrating and supporting this mission!
Benjamin & Caeil are award-winning twin teen musicians who began their musical studies at NCMC over ten years ago! Each has won the Springfield Youth Orchestra’s concerto competition and been ranked number one in the state on their instrument based on their All-State Music Audition.
Caeil will perform the first movement of the hauntingly beautiful and virtuosic Oboe concerto by Ralph Vaughan-Williams. Later this month she will perform in Springfield’s Symphony Hall as a soloist with the Orchestra. In addition to her accomplishments on oboe, Caeil is also an accomplished pianist and will perform piano music of Debussy, Chopin and other composers.
Benjamin’s performance will include the brilliant first movement of C.M. Weber’s Bassoon concerto in F, opus 75. After this performance, in June, Benjamin will be attending the prestigious Advanced Intensive Bassoon week held at Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan. Benjamin is also a second prize winner in the UMass Amherst Young Arts Competition, winds and brass division.
This concert will be accompanied by UMass pianist Julian Drummond.
