NAGO

NAGO makes music for ghosts. A sample-based hip-hop musician, NAGO collages audio into introspective sonic cinemas. Rooted in his upbringing in Springfield, Massachusetts, NAGO explores themes of family, solitude, and artistic responsibility. With an emphasis on the technology he uses, NAGO blurs time by shifting between rigid, computer-led patterns and soaring, abstract passages. Heavily influenced by both the foundations and future of hip-hop, NAGO’s work is where memory meets machine.

During residency at NCMC, I’ll be using the recording studio to work on my album, Vanity Act, on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. The album exists on two main axes:
An exercise in ego. A moment to give myself and others permission to pop off, stretch out, and champion our respective styles.
An interrogation of what it means to be a community-oriented artist in Western Mass.
With this, I’ve been folding many community members into the album’s creation, including different ensembles who practice at NCMC. I’m very much open to collaborating with anyone interested!
