About the Program

Learn the techniques, songs and traditions of Appalachian, Celtic, and other styles of fiddle playing. Separate classes are available for youth and adults/older teens. Participants are required to have a minimum of two years of prior violin instruction. Offered for both youth and adult groups.


Youth Ensemble meets Mondays 5:15-6:00

Adult Ensemble meets Mondays 6:00-6:45

Your Instructor

Lily Sexton

Lily Sexton teaches fiddle at NCMC. While pursuing a Bachelor’s degree at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, began focusing on fiddling in the traditional Appalachian style. Since then, she has formed several bands in the Pioneer Valley, most notably progressive bluegrass group Mamma’s Marmalade.
